Moving and shaking in Linux space

Interesting things happening in Linux space recently: Novell is [going to buy](http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,3959,1371638,00.asp?kc=EWRSS02129TX1K0000531) SuSE Linux, and Red Hat will [stop maintaining and producing](http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,4149,1371164,00.asp) their Linux distribution in April 2004. Red Hat will focus on their Enterprise offering. The company also recently announced fairly [strong numbers.](http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,4149,1273785,00.asp)

Interesting things happening in Linux space recently: Novell is going to buy SuSE Linux, and Red Hat will stop maintaining and producing their Linux distribution in April 2004. Red Hat will focus on their Enterprise offering. The company also recently announced fairly strong numbers.

This could be very good for Linux. It will be very interesting to see what Novell will do now that they have both a distribution and Ximian, which is busily porting the .NET framework over to Linux through the Mono project.
