Ishkur’s Guide to Electronic Music

This is awesome! A taxonomy of electronic music showing how the different sub-categories relate to each other, complete with snarky comments on the genres and samples of representative music. Well worth checking out if you’re into the genre.

Ishkur even goes so far as to laud Italo, calling it “the world’s first completely electronic commercial dance music, predating House, Techno, Electro, and just about everything else. The music is seriously stupid good fun once you get past its dated, tinny sound.” He even threatens to start spinning it. Right on. Italo has long been a guilty pleasure of mine, especially the Max Mixes which often shake my car.
