I’ve spent pretty much all my free time this week planted in front of the TV watching CNN’s coverage of Katrina’s aftermath and couch-surfing for more information, and am, like so many others, shocked by the ravages of the storm and utterly infuriated by the ham-handed rescue efforts.
This kind of catastrophe does give you pause for thought, though—at least for me, it’s been a slap in the face to take me out of “everyday” mode. Like anybody in a family with two working parents and a toddler, we don’t have enough hours in the days to get everything done, and it’s often hard to focus on the important things.
I need to redouble my efforts to do that.
