Not exactly Kerouac

Andrea has started second grade, which involves a quite stunning amount of homework, especially reading and writing.

Thursday night we’re at the kitchen table working with her to wrap up the week’s work, and of course she’s getting tired and antsy to do something else.

“Let’s finish this. You only have one more sentence to write.”

“You write it.”

“No, I can’t write your sentences for you. It’s your homework.”

“Well, write slowly so the teacher thinks it was me.”

To the best of my knowledge she’s never heard the old, “I know you don’t read fast, so I’m writing this slowly” gag…
