For school districts unwilling to purchase, it would be nice if they would let individual teachers have a discount. This could be an entre to districts still in the 20th century.

Wonder if mini-Keynote will support speaker notes on the device while the presentation runs on VGA?

It supports video out via the existing iPod AV cables for composite and component, and also VGA via the new Dock connector to VGA adapter they are releasing alongside the device.

Yeah, the name is kind of meh, and the feminine-hygiene product jokes are inevitable, but it's not a big deal.

Of course the iPad will go through the same kind of product evolution as every other product, with more features added as time goes on. My gut feeling is Apple didn't put a camera for video conferencing in the first generation iPad since it's kind of tricky to figure out the angles people are going to be using the thing.

I agree this thing seems delightful. I also agree, as the father of a ten-year-old daughter myself, that this makes a compelling case for being her next major gift of learning and playing technology.

A couple of small nits to pick: The name, it's been suggested to me, if you were to ask a room full of females, is at least slightly less than optimum. No, you'll think... but if you're a Y chromosome human, ask five women.

Why not have a camera? Why not make it capable of making telephone/televideo "calls?" Bet a bunch of benjamins there'll be more rather than less device integration in the coming years... Why not now?

All-in-all, though, a superb new tool for human brains everywhere!
