The Core Dump

A strong conviction that something must be done is the parent of many bad measures

Weather channel for nerds

Every once in a while I like to check in on the Internet Storm Center. The site gives you a brief overview of which ports are currently being attacked as well as a roundup of security news.

The site also provides a good tool for searching on particular ports and seeing which vulnerabilities and exploits are happening on that port. Very useful for when you go through your access logs and find tons of requests hammering on one particular port.

It’s actually a bit depressing to think of all that bandwidth being wasted on hooligan-ware, and also to realize that my tiny little cable modem is under so much continuous attack.
